El primer mandatario de Guyana  Irfaan Ali asegura que su país está listo de cualquier forma para un enfrentamiento con Venezuela, sea diplomático o militar. “Nuestro estado de preparación está basado sobre el derecho internacional, la diplomacia y siguiendo los lineamientos y reglas internacionales en esta controversia.

Tras el referendo del domingo en el que los venezolanos se expresaron a favor de anexionarse la zona bajo litigio, Guyana solicitó al Consejo de Seguridad de Naciones Unidas una reunión, que se celebrará este viernes. Por su parte, el presidente venezolano, Nicolás Maduro, ha ordenado ya a la petrolera estatal comenzar a entregar licencias para extraer crudo, mientras se prepara una ley para crear una provincia venezolana en la zona en disputa.
